The Omagh University Partnership was formally launched in February 2003 with the primary aim of strengthening the links between the business sector and the Further and Higher Education sectors.
This unique partnership comprises of South West College, Omagh Enterprise Company, Omagh District Council and the University of Ulster, and was established to promote innovation through increasing the support provided by education to Small-Medium sized Enterprises (SME’s). This initiative aims to consolidate and improve the competitiveness of businesses with a product to market emphasis.
The main focus for the partnership programme is the development of an Innovation Network, to bring the Research & Development expertise of the University to Small-Medium size Enterprises (SME's) operating in the Omagh District. The recent appointment by the Partnership of an Innovation Executive, Noelle Mc Aloon, will act as a link between the University/College and the business community. This, professional on the ground support, will provide businesses with the appropriate information as and when required.
Collectively the partnership will continue to highlight the importance of continued Professional Development within SME's locally, to aid the ongoing economic development of Omagh.
